We wanted to share an update on the progress we’ve made on the next firmware update, what we’ve been working through, and what’s ahead.
Once we resolved the manufacturing issue with our pressure sensors, the true (and improved) behavior of these sensors became apparent—and with that came new challenges. We’ve uncovered a few key characteristics:
Noise Reduction and Filtering: The sensors are significantly more sensitive than they were previously, which means we’ve had to develop entirely new techniques to tackle noise reduction and filtering. This work is critical to ensuring the data we process is clean and reliable.
Unique Sensor Personalities: Each sensor has its own quirks—slight variations in noise patterns, absolute offsets, and how they respond to pressure changes. To accommodate for these differences and maintain accuracy, we’re introducing a device calibration process in the firmware.
So, we are introducing a new Calibration Process. This calibration process is a significant addition to the Delta’s firmware, enabling us to learn and account for each sensor’s unique characteristics. By capturing these traits during calibration, we can ensure the data is processed accurately during every project. It’s a complex enhancement, but it’s a necessary step to take the Delta’s precision to the next level.
For those of you using your Deltas and experiencing accuracy issues, this update is designed to address those problems directly. While we don’t have a concrete ETA just yet, we’re working hard and taking the time needed to get it right. When we have a concrete ETA, we’ll announce it immediately.
Shipping Update:
We’re also gearing up for our next delivery run. We’re currently waiting on a shipment of parts, which our supplier expects to arrive within the next couple of weeks. Everything else is primed and ready, so as soon as the parts are in hand, we’ll move quickly to get the next round of Deltas out the door.
